Reading/Writing
Grammar - review noun, verb, adjective, subject, predicate, adverb,diagramming sentences,

"Smiley Face Tricks" for writing - 8 tips to enhance/improve students' writing. These will be covered over the next few weeks: magic 3, figurative language, specific details for effect, repetition for effect, expanded moment, humor, hyphenated modifier, full circle ending

Choice books - students will choose a genre and read and discuss in book groups

New term class officers - nominees are required to submit a paragraph stating why they want to be elected and why they would be effective in the position
