Reading/Writing
This week we will continue with parts of speech, read an excerpt from The Circuit in our literature textbook, and continue exploring strong sentences, powerful paragraphs and excellent essays.
Permission slips will be sent home for parents to sign so that students may view the movie Swing Kids in class next week. Slips will be due by the end of this week. Swing Kids is set in pre-World War II Germany, where two high school students attempt to be swing kids by night and Hitler Youth by day, a decision that acutely impacts their friends and families. More info about the movie is viewable online at Wikipedia or IMDB.
The Multicultural Book Project has intermediate dues dates listed on a blue form that was distributed when the project was assigned. Each student was to have read 1/3 of his or her book by November 21, and 2/3 by the end of this week. Books must be completely read by December 7. The final project, with all written components, is due December 17. Please see complete information below.
